If you came to this blog through Google or Bing, it's likely that you first decided to search for an Indianapolis drug counselor. Or perhaps you keyed in to the search engine " Indianapolis drug rehab. " Either way, you might just find that a recovery coach or sober coach is a better fit for your addiction needs. Here's why.
When you search for an addiction counselor, you're going to get someone whose practice is heavily weighted toward psychotherapy. This means spending many weeks--and dollars--talking about your past. While this is all well and good, an addiction therapy such as this is better suited to those with a co-occurring disorder (or a " dual diagnosis "). These are simply those of you who, in addition to your addiction, suffer from some emotional disorder such as depression or anxiety or schizophrenia.
Those of you whose primary issue is that of drug addiction or alcoholism often do better by simply hiring an Indianapolis recovery coach. That's because their focus is primarily on the here and now--developing new strategies for dealing with your urges to use. It also doesn't hurt that this is usually less expensive than traditional Indianapolis drug counseling.
I still believe that for most people, the best benefit can be achieved by getting into a residential program (I am, after all, program director for one of Indy's best, Celebrate Freedom). This gives the best opportunity for someone to hold you accountable for your actions--to make it impossible for you to use, even though every bone in your body wants to use.
However, if you simply cannot leave your home, why not take Indianapolis Drug Rehab into your own home? This often is best achieved by hiring a recovery coach or sober living coach. If you're interested in hiring a sober coach, I can either help you or point you o someone who can. Call me, Rich Brown, at 317-210-FREE. Or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org .
